Update: Our warrior Nathan Reyes has passed on. He had a spirit like no other and fought harder than anyone could. His spirit was too powerful for the vessel he was given and now he walks with God. We love you brother and we can’t wait to see you at the Gates. ❤️
Any remaining fund will be going to his services we appreciate all who have supported us in this journey and gave us more time with him on his final days. we will all have to live a life he would be proud of. We know you’re watching over us brother and your death will not go in vain. Rest in Paradise.
Nathan is my brother, you wouldn’t believe this kid’s heart. He’s been through so much and I believe his story won’t end anytime soon. From the age of 5 his father passed away and was thrown into the system along with his 2 sisters. Raised by my mother (aka his biological aunt) ,who was strong enough to adopt them at the young age of 26. In a matter of days 4 kids were hers to feed, clothe, shelter, and bathe in the middle of nursing school as she was still trying to figure out her own ambitions. She struggled tremendously yet through her motherly will power was able to relentlessly figure out how to take care of all of our needs. No we didn’t live in luxury but we always slept with a full stomach, in warm beds, and with a kiss goodnight. She gave up her future to save my sibling’s.
God has blessed her with amazing support, but also with even greater challenges. Now our family faces more challenges, and I believe these were lessons sent directly to my mother because she is relentless enough to take them on. My mother is the slayer of tragedy, HER HUSBAND IS IN STAGE 3 KIDNEY FAILURE. He is unable to bring in an income because of his condition but supports her in any way he is able to. Her uncle who she actively aids has stage 4 kidney failure.
Now her son Nathan has gone through hell and back, as his merciless cancer was barely beaten once before at the age of 17. Now it’s back with revenge. He beat the cancer before but not without any scars. First time around he got an extremely rare brain eating fungus and lost his right eye. If you thought cancer was rough, this fungus had no known cures for the brain. Nathan was the FIRST survivor from the fungus using an experimental drug, prayer, meds and vitamins. Doctors considered him a lost cause, but not my mother, not his siblings, not his friends, and eventually we found amazing doctors who would NOT give up. If his heart is beating then there is a chance. Without those amazing doctors then I wouldn’t have my brother today.
Now at the age of 21 he’s back in the fight. Nathan has relapsed with vengeance. There is no sign of the ruthless fungus and we thank God for that but he has an infection in his intestines that is extremely life threatening, especially someone with Leukemia. They found it in his blood, meaning he’s septic. The Leukemia is stopping his body from producing white blood cells to fight the infection and platelets to stop his bleeding. He’s in extreme critical condition, putting him on life-support. The cancer is persistent but Nathan, our family, our friends, and our supporters are NOT ready to give up. He’s a fighter and continues to defy the odds. We NEED him to defy some more because I AM NOT ready to lose my brother. We have dreams that we WILL achieve and I just need God to give us that opportunity.
My amazing mother who is sitting bed side day and night holding his hand, but as she does that, she has to neglect her responsibilities to her family to take care of him. She’s taking so much time away from work meaning NO paycheck or any source of income, the bills will not stop. She’s the bread winner in our family, exhausted, restless, stressed she still miraculously is able to juggle all her responsibilities. SHE IS AN ANGEL directly send by God. I help as I can but I’m only 22 and can’t do it on my own.
I’m calling on any family, friends , and supporters who can hear this story and donate. We are not greedy and don’t need to hit the goal posted. We just need enough to pay bills, eat ,and take care of my siblings. All funds will go directly to the integrity driven and courageous mother Marisa Torres. If you are unable to donate, sharing this post would be greatly appreciated. As a believer of God any prayers would also be greatly appreciate. Also of course any donations would be tremendously appreciated, we are a struggling family but, Nathan needs us which is why I Stand with Nate!
