Lost Consciousness While Delivering For Uber In CA

Hello, my name is Anthony and I’ve been providing excellent service through Uber. This is not a side gig just to make extra cash, this is my full time job. I worked 5-6 days a week delivering on time or before time, during and after historic storms and through the blazing heat.
I love what I do, I take pride in any challenge, in any job and with Uber I found a sweet spot, a comfort zone if you will. I made good to great friends along the way, meeting amazing employees and managers, connecting with them on a human level. Everything was going wonderfully, I had just enjoyed an awesome bday the weekend of April 14th. Back to work Tuesday, everything felt normal, I was receiving a decent amount of deliveries. Around 6pm I picked up Baskin Robbins. As I was driving down the highway, only 5 minutes later, I randomly lost consciousness and crashed into a parking lot. I had regain consciousness as they were putting me into the ambulance. The first thing I asked, “Is anyone hurt??” Thankfully nobody was. It’s true what they say, your life flashes before your eyes.
I have cheated death, given another chance at life. The next day I filed a claim through Uber, since I had been working when I crashed. If you are waiting for or in the act of using the app in California, you are eligible for injury protection. I live in Santa Clarita California, so my initial thought was, Uber has my back, I’ve been breaking mine for them with excellent service, this should be easy, no.
Only 24 hours after I had made my claim and described in detail on recording about my incident, they denied my claim. They stated that since it was a medical condition (possible seizer), in which I had never experienced before, that they could not proceed any further. And because of this, the doctor said I cannot drive for 3 months until they find the exact cause of my black out. I drive a living so this very detrimental. No driving, no money. As such a big company as Uber, you think that they would want to help their employees, especially if it was an accident, with only me getting injured. I have 100% satisfaction on Uber with a multitude of accolades providing amazing service. And still, they denied my claim.
This fundraiser is for medical expense help. I’ve never done this before and didn’t think it would come to this but Uber is not taking the initiative nor standing up for their drivers.
