Melissa Benoist is an actress known for her roles in Supergirl and Glee, and she is a survivor of domestic violence. In November 27, 2019 she bravely opened up about her experience with DV with the world as a way to help other women facing/overcoming domestic violence. October 4th is Melissa’s birthday and inspired by her and her activism we’ve set up this GoFundMe to raise money to the Phoenix Act and support this cause that is so important, and we hope this helps ensure basic and necessary rights to survivors.
The Phoenix Act is a bill which lengthens the statute of limitations for victims of domestic violence and this year it was enacted into law in the state of California. Now, they’re working on have this act get passed in all 50 states, and it is already getting started in Washington and Minnesota.
100% of donations go toward ensuring survivors of domestic violence get basic rights through the Phoenix Act in all 50 states of the United States.
