Ian Snyder's Hiking Accident
Donation protected
On Dec 4th my brother Ian was on a solo trip to Oahu and enjoying a beautiful hike, when the event took a turn for the worse and he ended up falling 1000 feet down a mountain.
Three days later he was rescued by helicopter and brought to a hospital there, where he spent a few days receiving treatment as the doctors determined his injuries.
He sustained a broken elbow and hand, fractured cheekbone area with temporary vision impairment, puncture wounds and bruising.
We are grateful to God that Ian is alive; every aspect of his survival and rescue is a miracle.
We weren't sure at first what the financial impact would be, but now that we have a clearer idea of that I would like to set up a go fund me to help ease the burden of added expenses that this accident has brought about.
The target we are asking would be a huge blessing to help cover:
Out-of-pocket medical costs (thankfully this ended up fairly minimal),
time off from work for Ian and my parents due to the accident, and
travel costs from my parents making an unexpected trip to Hawaii to go help and bring him home.
Any excess beyond $4,000 will go to Hawaii first responders and the Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii (VASH) organization.
Thank you all for the outpouring of love and prayers for Ian before, during, and after his rescue. It has meant so much to our family. Thank you for contributing to this if you are able.
We love you all!
