Ian Spalding Memorial Accident Fund
Donation protected
Sunday evening May 31, 2020, Ian Spalding had gone with some friends to look at the ocean view at the Cliffs of Norton Gulch next to Sunset Bay in Coos Bay, Oregon. In a turn of tragic events, he fell from the cliff hitting his head on the way down before entering the water. The local authorities and Coast Guard quickly responded, however, he had already slipped under the water and all efforts thus far have been unable to recover his body.
Ian knew dreams took work and he exemplified that through his actions. He worked hard to earn starting positions in both baseball and football at North Bend High School. His determination was never selfish and as he pushed himself to do better; he also worked to build those up around him. He was an example of leading and also being lead.
Teachers, students, friends, and other community members are mourning the loss of this unique individual, but none more than his parents as the pray each moment that his body may be recovered to provide some closure.
The funds will be used by the family to help cover the celebration of life expenses, burial costs once the body is located, and a scholarship in his remembrance.
