We are very sad to announce that Ian passed away peacefully (in true Ian style) 8 minutes into the 8th day of the 8th month.
He had been kicking cancer's ass on and off since 2017 and according to his doctor, had reached a stage where there was limited research available, cocky bugger!
He was out shopping on Thursday demanding Chinese and went quickly and peacefully surrounded by his immediate family.
Ians wishes were;
"not to have the fuss of a funeral as they are depressing and a waste of money which would be better going to charity"
To honour his wishes we have set up this page and will be donating to the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre in Harrogate.
He wouldn't want flowers or gifts of condolences, instead please feel free to donate to this page.
Why The Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre
Ian had been a regular visitor since 2017, occasionally visiting up to 4 times a week. He could recognise many of the staff members' voices over the phone. In true Ian style and too much of the amusement of the staff, he would sit through his treatments giggling away to some silly podcast or another through his headphones.
We will also be organising a sponsored walk of the Yorkshire three peaks next summer, in celebration of Ian's life, please reach out for more information if you wish to take part.
We would like to encourage you and the important people in your life to get checked regularly, follow the link for more information https://www.england.nhs.uk/cancer/
