Ian's final expenses

Donation protected
Out of the blue we got a phone call on the morning of Wednesday the 27th of July, telling us that our son was being life-watched to Wichita!

We were told that our normal, healthy, 30 year old son was not able to be woken up that morning.  We were told that he would open his eyes but that he was unable to stay focused on who was speaking to him. We were told that he could speak but that what he said made no sense.  We were told he had complained of a severe headache, fever and chills the night before.  When the EMTs arrived at the house they could tell the situation was very serious and rushed him to the ER in Larned, KS.  While there, the situation became more critical and the decision was made to get him to Via Christi Hospital in Wichita.  Ian arrived in Wichita just before noon, unconscious and unresponsive...

As family started arriving at Via Christi Hospital throughout the day on Wednesday, we were left with more questions than answers.  The doctors said Ian was in a coma and was not able to breathe on his own.  By that first evening we were told the physical examination and all the tests done up to that point left little hope that we would get Ian back. But we all held out hope...

Some of the family would not leave the hospital as they did not want to be away in case a miracle happened.  As the rest of the family gathered again on Thursday, we waited as the EEG and the angiogram were performed to give us some clear answers.  Unfortunately the earlier prognosis of brain inactivity was confirmed. We had no choice but to accept it.

To this moment we have no clear answers as to why or how this had happened, only that we have lost a dear member of our family.  Less than 36 hours had passed since we got that phone call but our lives will never be the same again.

We are now left with the heart break of planning Ian's funeral and preparing to lay him to rest.   Unfortunately there was no insurance policy put in place to cover any of these final expenses.

We have heard that many are looking to help with the costs of the funeral services.  We are truly gratfeul and blessed to have such wonderful people in our lives.  We feel this is the easiest way for people to help with these expenses.
