The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee Needs an Incubator!
Every kitten season, thousands of motherless kittens are at risk of death on the streets and in animal shelters. Animal shelters and veterinarians generally do not take in newborn kittens since they do not have the staff to provide the around-the-clock, specialized care that these fragile felines need to survive. Sadly, because their little lives can be so fragile, many shelters consider them too resource-intensive to raise. For that reason, orphaned kittens often make up the largest single group of animals euthanized at shelters.
The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee is a small, home based rescue in Northeast Ohio that offers around-the-clock feeding, medical care, and a warm, safe haven to neonatal kittens ages 4 weeks and younger. The IBKC works closely with several nonprofit rescues in Mahoning and Trumbull counties and is in partnership with Rebel Rescue Ranch, a non-profit 501(c)3 organization located in Berlin Center, OH.
We are in desperate need of an incubator. Newborn kittens can't shiver or regulate their own body temperature so an incubator can literally save their lives. An incubator will allow a constant warm temperature with set humidity to be provided to the kittens. It works in exactly the same way that a baby’s humidicrib works. It also allows for the distribution of nebulized medication to the kittens. Having a warm stable environment gives the kittens the opportunity to use their food for growth, not just keeping themselves warm.
Please donate if you can to help us save these fragile felines!
