Ibon Strong

On October 23, 2019, my brother John Kenneth Ibon suffered a massive stroke. He was rushed to the hospital where doctors found that the stroke caused a hemorrhage to the right side of his brain. We were told by the doctors that the outcome was very slim and that the first few days were critical. The doctors performed surgery on John to drain the bleed from his brain which they were able to do, however, his brain is still swollen. We are still unsure about his future as his doctors told us that there is significant damage to his brain and because he still has not woken up, they don’t know what his true prognosis is. We are patiently waiting for John to wake up and we continue to fight by his side.

Our family has not had the best of luck when it comes to health. Our dad has kidney failure which requires him to do dialysis 3 times a week, our mom passed away from cancer 7 years ago, and I have overcome cancer twice in my life at age 9  and at age 30  but unfortunately, the cancer returned this year and I am now fighting again. Day to day we dig deep down inside to fight and John has always been there by our side to help us fight our battles. And now, he is facing his own battle. I know my brother will fight as hard as he can to recover especially for his two young children.

John was in ICU for almost a month and part of his recovery requires him to be moved to a nursing skilled rehabilitation facility where he will continue on his road to recovery. The cost of his medical expenses continue to build and my family is humbled to ask for help. Any support, whether it be a monetary contribution, big or small, or even a small prayer for John and our family,  would be greatly appreciated and a blessing for us . 2019 has been a year of battles, but we believe 2020 will be a year of conquering. #IbonStrong
