Ice cap for Jen
Donation protected
As most of you know, our dearest friend, Jen, is starting chemotherapy for her breast cancer mid October. She is being treated at Mass General Hospital which is world renowned for it's care but as with most chemotherapy, Jen has a very high chance of losing her hair. However, Dr Isakoff, who is a doctor at MGH, has invented a scalp cooling system which is used to help diminish hair loss during chemotherapy. This is a type of cap that is made up to actually freeze the hair follicle in order to try to keep the hair. Patients are fitted for this cap prior to starting chemo and it is then used prior to and during every chemo treatment. Although this is not 100% effective, they have had great success. The total cost is anywhere from $1,300 to $2,200. As we all know, our Jenny is not only known for her beautiful, contagious laugh but also for her gorgeous locks! So, we are doing this Go Fund Me to raise money for the Ice Cap as it is not covered at all by insurance. As you can see, we have raised the Campaign Goal to double b/c not only do we know that there has been a huge response in wanting to help Jen, but also the fact that as with any major medical issues, additional costs will arise along the way. With any extra funds, Jen would LOVE the ability to help others and "pay it forward" by giving back to the Ice Cap Funding at MGH to help finance other women's caps who are less fortunate. So, thank you in advance for reading this and helping us reach our goal!
