ICKSP Seminarian Fund - Abbé J. Wells
Dear Friends and Faithful,
I am Jacob Wells, a seminarian for the Institute of Christ the King Sovereign Priest - whose motherhouse is located in the Archdiocese of Florence, Italy, but whose apostolates can be found around the world, including the US, the UK, Ireland, Continental Europe, and Africa - and am about to enter my seventh year of intellectual, and perhaps last year of priestly formation. I was born and raised in the city of San Francisco, California, where I attended Sacred Heart Cathedral Preparatory. I then studied at UC Berkeley, where I received my bachelor’s degree in philosophy.
Though I have just turned 29, I am entirely dedicated to the vocation that God has given to me: that is, to serve Him one day at the altar, and to serve His children, His flock one day as a priest. Pray for me that I will not be just a priest, but a holy priest. The priest, they say, can give to the faithful only what he has in surplus, as a fountain gives only insofar as it is overflowing; that is the essence of a holy priest: he who can give of his spiritual abundance. I hope, by the grace of God, to be that priest for you.
As I am finishing soon my years at seminary, this terrible truth becomes ever more clear to me. Pray fervently that His will be done.
In a similar way, the priest and the seminary has to ask the faithful for their "surplus" or their "financial abundance", even if, in these difficult times, such an abundance isn't what it used to be. I ask you, out of humility, to help me clear the debt I have incurred due to my studies, as well as the eventual debt due to having to purchase priestly vestments, et cetera. I have made this fundraiser for $20,000, though I hope that it will surpasse this amount in order to help me pay for such things. Also, if this fundraiser goes above and beyond what I need for my priestly ordination, rest assured that the over-abundance will go towards other seminarians of my community who need financial help as well.
