Icy wind storm destroys home, vehicles, access

Hello, my name is Lynda Staples, and I am the aunt of Jeremy and Monika Harwood. Last night, they faced devastation due to the icy blizzard conditions at their home. Their home, their vehicles, motorhome, workshop, everything is destroyed or needs to be rebuilt. They started their family from nearly nothing just five years ago.

This young family lost their 17 year old daughter, Marlena, and her doggy Roxy in a car crash due to ice just four years ago almost to the day, which has tapped into resources for funeral and family counseling. Marlena's and Roxy's shared urn and ashes were the first thing her mom ran to save as the trees crashed around them. Then, their savings were further depleted by travel to Poland as her mother was dying and then paying for the funeral just months ago.

Jeremy and Monika are both full time employees and hard workers. Monika is an in home care provider. More than that, they are good kind people. While the trees were falling on THEIR home, they were helping their 80+ year old neighbors stay safe.

They still have young teen kids at home. My heart breaks for them.

Emergency funding will take months. Insurance money can take a year or more. Rebuilding could take a year or more. Meanwhile, they must make life go on for their family. That means new cars, new clothes, new computers, a place to live, everything we all take for granted every day.
