Rachel's healing & life assistance

I am a single self-employed, divorced, natural foods chef (with hardly any restaurant experience, long-time cooking instructor, cooking coach, author, and speaker. I'm also a survivor of stage IV metastatic breast cancer. I've been in treatment for 3 years. I've made great strides and I still have one tiny spot to clear. I am currently having difficulty keeping up with my health insurance and other monthly bills. I have no savings or investments, no siblings , and no surviving parents. I've been using a high interest business credit card to pay my health insurance and some of my medical co-pays for the past 7 months. My health insurance premiums will go up by 55% in the new year (less expensive plans my insurance broker looked into have higher deductibles and/or they do not cover presciptions––my cancer meds cost thousands of dollars a month so I needd that coverage--and  I want to keep the same doctors I have for consistency of care. My rent also goes up in the New Year (not by as much, thank heavens!).

I don't know how I can keep up with all of that. I have been working to support myself throughout treatments and have hit a rougher patch. I am still on oral chemo. I don't know how I can keep the roof over my head, keep my car, car insurance and keep up with other basic overhead expenses. Any assistance you can offer would be greatly appreciated. I have two amazing books I want to write about this healing process (one inspirational story and one being a cookbook to help people get through treatment experience fewer side effects). To get to that point, I need assistance to stay afloat and clear the last little spot in one of my breasts. Having to move right now would be hugely stressful. I don't know where I would go or where I would store my posessions.I have a huge support network and some good business connections here in Phoenix.

I thought I"d found a part time job that would use my skills and allow me to create a more consistent and reliable income but it fell through.
