Ida Relief for Pointe-au-Chien Indian Tribe
On August 29, 2021, the eye of Hurricane Ida slammed into the Pointe-au-Chien Indian Community causing unprecedented damage and destruction. We are a small state recognized Tribal community situated in the Terrebonne Basin in both Lafourche and Terrebonne Parishes with approximately 800 tribal citizens. This storm has displaced hundreds of tribal members. Only a few homes in lower Pointe-au-Chien are habitable, and the majority of our Tribal families are in need of resources and will need assistance in temporary housing and rebuilding. Over 150 tribal families are struggling during this time.
We need assistance in supporting our families who were hit by the eye of the hurricane. The Tribal Council will use the funding for disaster response and to provide direct aid to Tribal families, many of whom are displaced for an uncertain amount of time. We know that whatever we raise will not be enough, but any donations are appreciated. This fundraising goal seems high, but it is a drop in the bucket compared to the destruction and amount of need for our Tribal members.
You can make a difference by donating today to Pointe-au-Chien Indian Tribe. Bien merci pour penser à nous.
