DEREK THE FRENCHIE'S LEASE OF LIFE

This is Mr Derek Carr, anyone that knows us will certainly know Derek, he has been with us since a puppy and is now only 6 years old.
We have just been told that he has a tumor at the top of his hind leg , it is called a nerve sheath tumor, it is a large cancerous mass travelling down the nerve making him currently lame. If we were to leave it and let it grow, we have been told it will press on his bladder and make him paralyzed within 9 – 12 months, he will then have to be put down.
On first consultation with the vet they thought it was a disc in his back, 3 x-rays on his back, an MRI scan and 2 x-rays on his leg later and they discovered the tumor.
Instead of leaving it, our option is to have the tumor cut out, it will eventually grow back but it will give him another 12 months so potentially he can be with us another 2 years, he is a 6 year old, fit healthy dog who makes people smile every day, we are no prepared to say goodbye to him in 2015.
We have chosen to have an operation for Derek on Wednesday 10th of December this week, we of course have insurance for him, however we have already spent a total of £1,700 over half of our limit per condition, we would like to save a little for any future medication needed for this condition, you are only allowed to claim up to a certain amount for each individual condition.
We have been told his operation on Wednesday will cost between £2,500 & £3,000 with a nights accommodation on top.
So far this year I have given £170 to various just giving pages, fun runs & charities so I thought I would give this a go and ask if people can give even £5 to help us enjoy Derek a while longer.
