iGEM 2024: BosLab Team
Donation protected
We are a group of enthusiastic students -- from different highschools* -- who love biology. It would mean the world for us to participate in the international iGEM competition. The iGEM Competition is an annual, worldwide synthetic biology event aimed at undergraduate university students, as well as high school and graduate students. For 20 years, the iGEM Competition has offered students the opportunity to push the boundaries of synthetic biology by tackling everyday issues facing the world. Of the 400 international teams, 56 are high school teams with just 10 teams from the USA. Our group could have the opportunity to:
- Do a research project and investigate/solve real world problems and contribute to the scientific community.
- Develop practical skills, such as wet and dry lab procedures, designing surveys, web design, and many others.
- Experience working as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Collaboration with peers and experts from all over the world.
- Experience communicating to a diverse audience and receiving feedback from experts in a variety of fields
- Networking opportunities and becoming an iGEM alumni
- Compete in a highly prestigious competition
- Discover a new passion and possibly new life goals
We would be the first iGEM team from Boston/Cambridge, and in turn would get the opportunity to represent the U.S. on a global scale. Click here to visit our website.
Our team will be working with BosLab, a non-profit community lab in Cambridge, MA. It offers educational workshops, and a laboratory to support community-driven research that is in the public interest and advocates for scientific transparency through engaging all members of the community through scientific discussion in an inclusive, fun, safe, and innovative environment. BosLab is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and you can learn more about BosLab here.
Our iGEM team would love the opportunity to attend the event and hopefully, win the competition. But we need your help. The contest is extremely expensive at almost $40,000 (for a 10-member team). Participating in this competition is important for students to help solve real world problems.
With your financial help we can go to his event and represent the United States!
