JOIN CHICAGO NATIVE JOHNNY SPEAKS FOR HIS JJ ALBUM RELEASE SHOW ON DEC. 28 AT UNCOMMON GROUND. Proceeds benefit Ignite the Spirit, supporting firefighter families. Enjoy soulful blues, folk, and more.
Chicago native and soulful singer-songwriter Johnny Speaks (John Spiekerman) will debut his new album "JJ" on Saturday, December 28 at Uncommon Ground. This special hometown performance is more than a celebration of music – it’s a fundraiser for Ignite the Spirit, supporting Chicago Firefighter families in need.
JJ is dedicated to Johnny’s late father, John Joseph Spiekerman – known to most Chicago Firefighters as “Spike” – who served as a firefighter at Montrose & Kedzie on Engine 124, Truck 38. The album explores Johnny’s connection to family and the struggles of being far from home. Now based in Fort Collins, CO, Johnny’s music captures the essence of life's journey, blending personal experiences, family stories, and the challenges of traveling across the country for his career. With a unique blend of blues, bluegrass, soul, and folk, JJ features songs that explore themes of love, loss, and self-discovery, focusing on the relationship Johnny had with his father.
