Igniting Curiosity at the Science Museum

Hello. My name is Adrienne Martino-Ortiz, and I am a 7th-grade science teacher at South Orange Middle School in South Orange, NJ. As a seasoned science educator, I firmly believe in the importance of hands-on learning experiences for students. As a doctoral candidate, I am conducting a qualitative study on the benefits of museum learning. This field trip will allow my students to immerse themselves in science and technology, explore new concepts and ideas, and expand their knowledge outside of the classroom setting (museum learning). The trip will also allow me to conduct and gather data for my research study for my doctoral degree.

Unfortunately, several of our students come from low-income families and need help paying the museum's admission and transportation fees. We want to ensure that every student can attend this field trip regardless of their financial background. I can also not financially fund the field trip, the participant incentives, and a hired chaperone.

That is why we are asking for your support. Your donation will help cover the cost of admission, transportation, and other necessary expenses to make this field trip possible for all students. Your generosity will help these students understand the world better, instill a lifelong love for learning, and inspire them to believe they can achieve great things. The roundtrip bus transportation to the museum costs $750, including parking fees and gratuity. The incentive pizza party for the 30 participating students will cost approximately $350, including pizza, beverages, and sweet treats. The hired chaperone to assist me with my students will cost $200 ($50/hour for 4 hours after school). The total cost is approximately $1300.
