IGWC-UE Strike Fund - Spring 2022
Donation protected
UPDATE: Thank you all for your financial support so far. We are blown away and humbled by all your generosity!
On May 10th, Indiana Graduate Workers Coalition-UE members voted in favor (78% to 22%) of suspending the strike until September 26th after 4 weeks of striking. Over the next four months, the IGWC-UE will continue to pursue negotiations, establish our union local, and further develop our fall strike strategy. We are also suspending this strike fund GoFundMe. All strike funds collected will go towards our upcoming strike in the Fall, should the administration continue to not recognize our Union.
If you would like to make a financial donation at this time, please direct any funds to our general fundraiser for operations, found here: https://gofund.me/5e815ac0

The Indiana Graduate Workers Coalition - United Electrical Workers (IGWC-UE) at Indiana University is preparing to strike for union recognition.
Contributions to this strike fund will go to alleviate any unforeseen hardship issues or legal fees for strikers and their families that might arise. The Union will select a committee of union members to disperse strike funds on a hardship basis should hardship occur because of employer actions against the employees on strike. After the strike, any leftover funds are typically transferred to the union's fund to advance the campaign for union recognition.
For years we have campaigned for a living wage and to end burdensome fees. Indiana University Administration has refused to meet with us for two years. In December 2020, we submitted nearly 1600 union cards asking for a union election. That request was rejected. Grad workers feel we have no other option but to strike.
Most departments at IU have had 2 wage increases in 10 years. Several departments such as the School of Education, Biology, and East Asian Languages and Culture have not provided a wage increase in over a decade.
Graduate workers want a union to bargain for increases. We want a union to negotiate with the Administration as equals. We are fighting for:
End the Fees
A Living Wage with Annual Raises
Protect and Improve Benefits
An Effective Grievance Procedure
Fairness for International Students
Please contribute to our fund today.
