Iliana's Cancer Battle
Donation protected
After over a month of pain and struggling, due to what we thought was a cheerleading injury, we learned that my neice Iliana has Anaplastic Large Cell Lymphoma. She currently has 7 tumors in her little 9 year old body, with the primary in her shoulder just above her heart. The tumors in her hips have caused fractures. She will undergo an operation 1/11/18 to repair those fractures, and after that her chemotherapy will begin. She will remain at UNC Chapel Hill Children's hospital for at least the next 2 weeks. Her mother/my sister, Beth, has resigned her position to stay at home to care for Iliana and homeschool her. Her treatment plan is mapped at 6 months during which time they will need to make trips from their home in Jacksonville, back to Chapel Hill at least monthly for a week at a time. She has 4 older siblings that are at home in Jacksonville being cared for by family. Please keep Iliana and her family in your thoughts and prayers as they begin this battle. According to Iliana, she is going to "kick cancer's butt." Additionally, if you are in a position to help support her family financially, it would mean a lot and help them offset the financial burden of travel and lodging cost, along with the loss of income during this hard time in their life.
