Illegal Termination of Union Organizers

Donation protected
{DISCLAIMER: This is the second fundraiser being organized for illegal terminations at the same facility. Due to another recent termination of an organizer, this fundraiser will cover both the first and second termination for the sake of practicality; the proceeds will be split fairly between the two organizers considering the first fundraiser. If you donated to the first fundraiser, please consider donating again}

This GoFundMe is being organized on behalf of Thomas Snee and Colby Champagne, two voluntary organizers and now former employees involved with a union campaign at Micross Components, a microchip processing facility that primarily does work for aerospace and military contractors such as Boeing, BAE, GE, Raytheon, and Lockheed Martin. Thomas was terminated on the 14th of August, just three weeks after the union campaign became public knowledge in the plant. Colby was terminated on October 13th, being the only other termination since the beginning of the campaign. Both Thomas and Colby were key organizers and among the most vocal supporters of the campaign.

When Thomas was fired the company refused to offer him any specific reason for his termination, only going so far as to say he was terminated "for cause." When Colby was fired, the company told him that someone had reported him sleeping on the job earlier that week, essentially basing it on hearsay. Thomas has worked at Micross for 2 years and has never been written up, Colby has worked at Micross for 2.5 years and has not been written up once either. Furthermore, we believe there is more than enough evidence to suggest they were terminated specifically for their organizing activities and vocal support of the union.

The IAM, which is sponsoring the campaign at Micross, has filed cases against the company for the violation of their rights under Sections 7 & 8 of the National Labor Relations Act, wherein it states that workers who support or aid in the formation of a union cannot be retaliated against, including termination. However, the cases may take some time, at least a few weeks, maybe a few months, so Workers' Democracy is organizing this GoFundMe to help Thomas and Colby support themselves during their legal battles and to provide them relative comfort after putting their neck on the line for the good of working people everywhere.

Please consider donating, we will post updates about their cases and the campaign in general so please check back on occasion as well.
