I'm cycling 1800 miles from Malta to the UK for Cancer
Do you want to join me in making a difference?
My name is Matt and, at 60 years old, I have been receiving treatment for Prostate Cancer.
Before receiving the diagnose I was fit and well - married for 27 years and have 5 incredible children. I'm a sailor and have circumnavigated the world racking up a total of 40,000 nautical miles in my lifetime, living everywhere from Penang, Bangladesh, Tanzania and St Lucia. I swim, cycle, run, and live in Malta. I've been in the military, and had the honour of eventing for the army as a modern pentathlon.
Since receiving the diagnosis I have had 35 days of radiation and one year of hormone stomach injections.
So why am I doing this?
Well because after tens of thousands of miles sailing, cycling, swimming and running I'm only now appreciating that I'm not alone. I can't carry the world on my shoulders. I'm dying and want to share a journey. I want to make a difference in an upbeat and happy way.
That's why I'm cycling from Valetta in Malta to Hertfordshire in the UK - on my trusty £200 Halfords bike, in my €19 tent, approximately 1800miles. I will be posting updates on this page along the way for you all to enjoy!
I'm raising money in aid of Prostate Pedallers and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to me.
