My name is Allie and I'm raising money for my friend Merisa so she can buy a car. My family has given me cars, helped me with insurance, and helped pay for repairs. I would like to pay this forward for my friend.

Merisa moved to Western Massachusetts from Brooklyn, NY to complete her undergraduate degree in history at Smith College. She decided to stay in the valley after graduating and is finding that life would be much more opportunity-filled and easeful with a car.

(For example, I am currently paying $250 less in rent each month because I moved out of Northampton, but the bus stop that would take me to work is a mile away and my commute would average between 45 minutes to 1 hour vs 10 minutes in a car.)

Merisa is hilarious! charming! independent! creative! adventurous! curious! smart!

If she had a car she could have wider access to job opportunities, visit family and friends around the country, nourish her adventure-seeking soul, buy more than a few groceries at once, etc.

$20,000 would go towards a new car purchase that hopefully wouldn't require a loan for Merisa. I would love to give her the option of used cars that are safe for this climate and don't have too many miles on them already.
