I'm Here for a Purpose

Hi, I'm LaDonna. In January 2021, I got lost on top of Taum Sauk Mountain, the highest point in Missouri. Search and Rescue teams were unable to find me. The agencies involved didn't think I would survive near-freezing temperatures, severe storms, or a forest populated with coyotes, wild hogs, bobcats, and other wild animals. The following morning they began a recovery search. You see, others had died in a similar situation.

This story is about my mountaintop experience — a story of gratitude & determination.

I've written a book about this experience and other hiking stories because a person's attitude determines the outcome. I have learned much of what I know about life and the outdoors from reading. I want to help others learn from my experiences through this book and speaking engagements.

The book is 9" x 9" and includes more than 50 color photos taken during my hikes.
