Urgent Help for Those Affected with the Coronavirus in Peru
Peru has one of the highest numbers of Covid-19 in the world with over 900,000 people infected and a rising death toll of 35,996 people*. The government of Peru, public and private institutions, as well as, non-profits, are completely overwhelmed by the current crisis, the lack of services, the collapse of hospitals, and the logistics needed to feed the population in the absence of jobs and resources.
We are helping mitigate the lack of food, by providing emergency food for those living in some of the poorest areas. So far, and thanks to your generous donation, we have sent food to approximately 6000 people in the outskirts of Lima and Cuzco. We have also provided emergency help for an orphanage, a shelter for cancer patients, and others. Unfortunately, we still have a long list of NGOs requesting our help.
We have donated today nine brand new gas stoves along with 30 refilled propane tanks, and over a ton of emergency food to the Catholic Church for the victims of the pandemic in the area known as Las Lomas de Manchay. Please help us to continue to provide emergency food in Peru. Your $10 donation, or more, will help feed a family of five for a week! We will continue our charitable cause for as long as it is needed.
About us, we are a new group, called Accion Marista 2020, made of former students of Colegio Champagnat in Lima-Peru. This group has been created specifically in response to the emergency described above. We are working in conjunction with HOST, a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization in the United States, to raise funds to buy food for the people affected by the pandemic. Please visit our website at https://accionmaristas2020.org to read the testimonials from the organizations and people we have helped.
Please donate today! Help us bring food to those in need, along with a message of hope and faith. Please do not hesitate, and after you have placed your donation, send this link to your friends and family so they too, can participate and help. It is of utmost importance that we share the struggles, pain, and sorrow, of so many families in Peru.
May God bless your generous donation!
