Ride for Lifehouse

Hi Everyone

We are Chris and Agnes Redfern from Wellington in Central NSW, Australia. Our local Rugby Union Club, the Wellington Redbacks, is working hard on a fundraiser aimed at raising funds to be donated to the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse in Sydney. We would like to help them in this.

Those that know me (Chris) would know that I have a long association with Wellington Rugby, and with the RPA cancer centre, which later evolved into The Chris O’Brien Lifehouse. A hospital focused solely on researching and treating cancer. I am a two time survivor of a cancer diagnosis. Firstly in 2010 as a 42 year old with aggressive SCLC Lung Cancer and later in 2022 at age 54 with a Gleason score of 9 out of 10 for highly aggressive prostate cancer. As you can see from the photo I am going fine, so I don’t need your money, but the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse does. With this in mind, Agnes and I have resolved to each ride 355 km over the next 35 days. Why 355km you ask? Well, that is the distance from our front door in Wellington to the front door of the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse in Sydney (and NO we are not riding our bikes to Sydney, we will be staying as far away from traffic as possible). Agnes and I would truly appreciate any sort of support that you could offer, as we want to give back to this amazing facility. We are truly grateful to the overwhelming professional, untiring, and unselfish legends who work at the Chris O’Brien Lifehouse and we know firsthand how they, as a not for profit organisation use their funds for this amazing hospital, aimed 100% at patient care. We will keep you posted on how we are punching out the kms as we go along. All the funds donated will be added to the Wellington Rugby club’s donation to the hospital after their Rugby Ball in mid September. We look forward to your support and we really hope and pray, that you personally never ever hear the words from your doctor,

”I’m sorry but it’s Cancer”.
