Imam Swadik Orphanage in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania

My name is Judy Bello and I am an activist who primarily works to support people in the Middle East. Last winter I met Sheikh Mohamed Abdi, the headmaster of Imam Swadiq Orphanage and School in Dar es Salaam at a conference. He is very enthusiastic about his work at the Imam Swadiq Center. At the IS Center, students receive, not only the basics of survival, but a rich education that will prepare them to live well at a time of great difficulty and also important development in Africa.
Learn more about the Imam Swadiq School and the students there HERE.
The Imam Swadiq Center currently supports 200 boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 18 years. All of their basic needs are provided including food, shelter, clothing and medical treatment. The children study secular subjects as well as religious subjects, including technical subjects like mechanics, electricity and craftsmanship along with studies in religion and philosophy. I met a graduate of the IS School at the conference, a cheerful young man who is currently studying for his doctorate in Qom. Though not well known in the west, this is a very prestigious degree.
Times are very difficult in the global south at present, and feeding 200 teenagers is major accomplishment in any context. By supporting these children, the Imam Swadiq school gives them the tools to become successful citizens in the developing world of the global south, to live well and to make real contributions to their society as adults. I hope you will join me in assisting the Imam Swadiq Center and the children served by it.
