Iman Sylvain Support & Cris Sylvain Memorial Fund

Donation protected
Dear friends, family, and community...I am raising money for my friend Iman Sylvain who lost her mother to complications of Lymphoma (Cancer) on 12/30/2020. On 12/23/2020, she went into the hospital for surgery, and ended up dying from neurotoxicity that contributed to her death. As some of you know, Cris Sylvain, Iman's mother was the only direct family member Iman has, and they were very close.  I am raising funds to help Iman be able to pay for a memorial service on 1/30/2021, as well as help cover costs for debts that might need to be paid off.  Iman will be taking time off work to go down to Los Angeles, where she is from, and where her mom lived to help close out her estate as well as settle any financial things that come with when a family member passes.  She has given me permission to fundraise for her, as she is very overwhelmed with grief and needing to navigate all the other details of taking care of her mom's things, etc.  We both did not want to set a quantity to how much money is needed to be raised, as someone's life is worth more than money, and Iman genuinely appreciates anything anyone has to offer, and has no expectation for anything but is definitely in need of some financial support as we all know funeral funds, just to begin, cost a lot.  Iman is not someone who has a lot of wealth, as so many of us also understand this.  I am also raising money for her not only because she is like family to me, and has spent time with my family...but because I also believe it is important to understand that oftentimes, black and brown folks suffer from the lack of proper healthcare and access to resources and the benefits of healthcare beyond Medicaid.  It is very known now that POC people, especially black communities, and especially single Black moms are often less served, when receiving help.  If you can, please donate to this fundraiser.  1 dollar collectively donated, to 5-10 dollars goes a long way for someone who is going through a difficult time, and though she has family to call upon, and many who love her, they cannot be with her physically at this time due to Covid.  Many of you love Iman already, and so I am preaching to the choir for some of you.  Please feel free to share this post with people who you think this would matter to.  If you don't do GoFundMe, then feel free to Venmo Iman directly...

Thank you, and may you all be well in these times and stay safe from Covid...

If we can get Iman some funds to start at least with paying for the memorial, 1/15/2021 could be a good first deadline.  Also it is one of my hero's bdays on that day. AKA Martin Luther King Jr.  Seems appropriate!
