Imani's Journey to Becoming Miss Black and Gold

Hi everyone! My name is Imani Bowen, and I am running to become Miss Black and Gold. The Miss Black and Gold pageant is for the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, and I want to become the next Miss Black and Gold because of my strong desire to use the position as a platform to advocate for African American women and men, and represent beauty beyond the exterior. As a woman who embodies characteristics such as diligence, strength, leadership and altruism, throughout this process, I will strive to align my qualities with those of the brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. to build a bond so we can spark change in our community together through service. If given the chance to elegantly represent the esteemed brothers of the Alpha Rho Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., not only will the journey build my confidence but also prove that despite my obstacles I can accomplish anything I set my mind to. In a nutshell, becoming Miss Black and Gold will allow me to face my doubts and blast out of my shell with a new sense of self, a brand new type of confidence, and a love for everything that God created me to be.
