Immigration Help for Children (Matching Campaign!)

Tax deductible
When the world is dark, it is hard to find direction. When a door opens and light floods the way, one can journey in safety and security.

The Latino Racial Justice Circle is announcing a major fundraising campaign to assist in our work of helping children seeking legal immigration attorney assistance. To help achieve our important financial goal, the Latino Racial Justice Circle Board of Directors and Friends of the Board have announced a fundraising match, dollar for dollar, for the first $10,000 raised. For every dollar donated, it will be doubled. If you donate $25, $50, or $100 or more, your generous gift will double to $50, $100, or $200. Help us reach our goal of $10,000. No amount is too small (and certainly no amount is too large!).

For many immigrants, the path to freedom and security is difficult, dangerous and obscured. For those seeking safety in the United States, legal representation is crucial. The hard fact (or reality) is that unaccompanied children are five times more likely to obtain legal protection if they have counsel (National Immigrant Justice Center). The cost is often prohibitive. Here is where YOU come in (or can make a difference).

Please consider becoming that beacon of light by opening the door to your heart to help an immigrant in need.

Each one of us holds a welcoming beacon of light in our hearts. Please consider opening the door of your hearts to help a child in need.

If you’re interested in learning more about 3 of the families we are seeking to support, please read their stories below (names changed to protect privacy):

Javier is a single minor who fled his home country due to persecution based on his sexual orientation. He was isolated, threatened and feared for his life because of his identity. He struggles with depression and self-harm. He fled to the United States with the hope of surviving, healing, and thriving. Please light the path for Javier through your generous donation.

Francisco, Noe, and Cristian were abandoned and left destitute by their father. With no means of supporting them, their mother came to the United States to earn money to help them survive. Instead of being loved and protected, the aunt who had promised to care for the three little boys neglected them and abused them both physically, and verbally. They have been reunited with their mother here in the United States. With your help, you can light the way by helping fund the legal representation they need to remain together with their mother. Here, they can recover and grow in a safe and loving home they so need and deserve.

Isabel and her mother came to the U.S. to escape political persecution and gang violence. Some of their relatives were murdered by gang members in their home country. Isabel’s father has stopped providing support to the family. Isabel and her mother are afraid that, without legal support, they will be separated or made to return to a dangerous situation in their home country. They want to stay in the U.S. where they have reunited with other family members and feel safe.

Your gift will have an enormous impact and will help light the way for these children.

The world has been a scary place for these young people. Fred Rogers shared a simple but powerful message that certainly applies: "When I was a boy and I would see scary things in the news, my mother would say to me, 'Look for the helpers. You will always find people who are helping.'"

By donating to this effort, you are the Helper. On behalf, of Javier, Francisco, Noe, and Cristian…. Thank you for being the light in the darkness by being the Helper!
