Cat impaled on wrought-iron fence needs surgery
Donation protected
10/26/23
Today, our community cat, Coco, jumped from a roof onto a wrought-iron fence and was impaled by a spike. Our neighbors came to his aid and we were able to carefully remove the spike and quickly get him to a vet (the wonderful Animal Medical Center of Chicago). He received x-rays, painkiller, fluid therapy, and antibiotics. He was stabilized and bandaged up for a trip to the all-night emergency vet (Veterinary Emergency Group) where he is spending the night under their care. Tomorrow, he will be taken to Animal Welfare League in Chicago Ridge for surgery.
So far, just today, we have spent $2,000. Tomorrow, we expect to spend even more than that. Once we know the cost of surgery, we will update this post.
If anyone can chip in and help us pay for Coco's much-needed medical care, you will be forever loved.
10/28/23 UPDATE
As of today, we have spent $2,647.49. This will be our final fundraising goal.
Coco went to Animal Care League on 10/27 for his surgery. He did very well and is now at a caretaker's home, recovering from his ordeal. She reports that he is eating well and taking his medicine like the good boy that he is. We will be making every effort to keep him indoors from now on, where it is safe.
THANK YOU so much to everyone who has been following his story, donating to this cause, and sharing the fundraiser on their social media! Love to you all...
