impro studio hearing graphics fund

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Angelina and I am the founder of impro studio . I have had two experiences of sudden hearing loss, and am single sided deaf (SSD) with a tinnitus since August 2022.

One of my biggest surprises so far has been the difficulties I have had explaining my internal experiences to hearing people, including professionals. While trying to communicate what it is like to live unilateraly deaf with tinnitus, I found that the most effective way to reach an understanding is to use a simple graphic. After lots of positive feedback, I have decided to create a series of graphics displaying a wide variety of hearing impairments. While these are representations ("the map is not the territory" - Korzybski), I hope they will facilitate conversations about hearing and how we make sense of our world.

Each graphic is available in 5 different skin tones. Currently available languages: English.

It is important that these graphics are available to the world for free! Pay-walling accessibility makes life for hearing-impaired people around the world way more difficult than it already is. The graphics do take effort and time to make and I would love to make more, translate them, and make other educational offers to the world. This is a work in progress.

If you find these graphics useful and would like to support me with this project, please donate to my hearing fund.

With this money, I will also be able to continue to build impro studio throughout this time of loss and recovery. My sudden deafness has meant that I had to suspend almost all of impro studio's activities. While I live in a country with relatively reliable access to healthcare, my quest for support and research into what is going on with my ear takes up enormous amounts of energy, time and financial resources for which I have had to rely on family support.

Supporting this gofundme campaign will make it possible for me to keep running impro studio as a self-employed single sided deaf person.

If you would like to follow my learning journey, please read my blog posts describing my experiences.
