Improve cycling safety & help injured cyclists

Why did we make competing in the world's toughest bike race about bike safety?
Over the past ten years, bicycle incidents have increased by 37 percent.
Over the past ten years, bicycle incidents have increased by 37 percent.
In 2020, more than one-fourth of bicycle fatalities were caused by hit-and-run accidents.
Many people do not need to look far to relate to the needs of an injured cyclist.
Cycling incidents involving motor vehicles are particularly devastating to all involved.
We can speak of four friends within our small circle that have experienced great physical, emotional, social and family hardships due to cycling “accidents.”
In addition to fractures, contusions and abrasions - Three dealt with severe brain trauma - two pretty much fully recovered - one never will recover fully. Unfortunately, the fourth deceased at the accident and is no longer with us.
Each of these instances could have been prevented.
From June 18th to June 25th, 2022, our team will ride the Race Across America (RAAM) to improve public awareness and education about the cycling and motor vehicle relationship.
RAAM is an ultra-distance road cycling race held across the United States since 1982. It is one of the longest annual endurance events in the world. This transcontinental event starts in California, finishes in Maryland, and covers approximately 3,000 miles (4,800 km). The race has no stages; it is a nonstop event from start to finish. Our team aims to complete the course in seven days.
It will take time and a lot of effort to make our roads safer and protect cyclists, yet while improvements continue, so do accidents.
In addition to assisting ongoing education and awareness, we desire to help injured cyclists in need of legal, medical, and mental health assistance.
Our team is partnering with a national non-profit organization: The League of American Bicyclists (www.bikeleague.org).
A portion of your donation goes towards special programs of the League that make our roads safer and help reduce the number of accidents.
