Support for vulnerable families in Kenya

Hi, my name is Vivien.

Last winter I actively took part in a volunteer programme in Kenya, working with the most vulnerable children and families. I was teaching English classes and participating in mentorship sessions. This experience has touched my heart deeply.

My idea is to return to Kenya this coming winter with the hope of creating further improvements to education and stable living conditions, which right now are out of reach for many of these families.

During my last stay I have had the opportunity to carry out small projects with 11 students - paying for their school fees and setting up mentorship sessions for them.

Currently I am overseeing their progress with the help of local friends while we are working towards their graduation. My goal is to help them continue their education at university.

All of this has been possible thanks to the valuable contributions of those closest to me.

Recent political changes have decreased access to food security, healthcare and education mainly amongst the already vulnerable. Improvements to this situation are not yet in sight.

While I’m in the process of setting up my NGO I would like to continue my work in Kenya. I intend to return in November and will need some start-up funds.

Some quick examples:

1600 KSH - sanitary pads for 10 girls for one month (~10€)

2200 KSH - basic food package for a family of 4 for one month (~15€)

13000 KSH - One year of school fees at a public highschool for one student (~85€)

No amount of money is too small to improve the lives of the affected people.
