In Celebration of the life of Phil Margetts

Phil Nils Margetts passed away on the 26th of June, 2020, after a monumental struggle with cancer. Those who knew him knew he was fiercely loyal, caring, and intelligent, with a no-nonsense approach to life and a legendary stubborn streak. This was evident in all aspects of his life, perhaps most especially the end, when he fought tooth and nail to ensure his three sons and loving wife were taken care of before succumbing to his illness. Phil will be remembered for much more than this though. He was a husband, a father, a Petty Officer Second Class Naval Veteran, mentor, and coach. He was known to many as "Coach Phil", "Fix it Phil" and to our family as "Dad". Phil left a lasting impression on people as a reserved, kind, patient and intelligent gentleman. His words, albeit limited, were thoughtful, long lasting and impactful. His actions were guided by his ethics, which were based in loyalty and respect.
From his time in Maryland, as a Jazz Musician, to his time in Florida, as "Coach Phil", to his passing in North Carolina, as the Senior Executive Vice President of Technology Services for Citco Technology Management, Phil Margetts made an impression on an uncountable number of people without ever knowing it. He was a man above reproach, whom did not require acknowledgment for his actions.
Our family will never forget the nights he came home to make us Chicken Francese, the nights he took his sons to football, baseball and soccer games, nor those nights he sat out in his truck to blast Maynard Ferguson while he wound himself down from 10 hour work days,
This fund is in part to make the memorial to his life as incredible as the man himself was.
