In Honor of Callahan Blum

Hello friends, family, and loved ones of Callahan and Becca Blum,

 

With Becca and the entire Blum family’s permission, I am humbly asking for prayer and support for the Blums as they navigate a medical emergency.

 

From Becca: “I brought Callahan into the emergency room on Saturday (4/2/22) after she had been sick for a few weeks and didn’t seem to be improving. Upon assessment, Callahan was diagnosed with multi-organ failure. Addiction is a disease Callahan has struggled with off and on for a while and has bravely shared openly about, in hopes of supporting others struggling as well. Unfortunately, this diagnosis is partially a result of her disease. Callahan has made huge strides in areas of her recovery in the past that I am so incredibly proud of. She is currently in a medically induced coma to ensure she can be kept stable as she undergoes various life-saving interventions.”

 

Callahan’s entire family is by her side, supporting her and Becca in the hospital. We believe Callahan can beat this, as long as she recovers enough to exit the ICU. She is being monitored closely by an incredibly caring and devoted team at Kaiser - we truly feel she is in the best hands possible (they’re even playing Taylor Swift in her room and if you know Cal, you know that’s a very big deal!) This is a day-by-day process and while she is making small improvements, it's going to be a long road ahead.

 

Many are asking what they can do to help. If you feel compelled to assist in Callahan’s medical journey, there are a few ways that would be so meaningful to the Blum family:

 

1. Pray - for Callahan’s healing and that we continue to see small daily improvements. For wisdom for all the doctors and medical team overseeing her care. For comfort over Becca, Callahan’s beloved wife, her family, and friends, who love her deeply and are heartbroken during this time.

 

2. Consider financial support - We have set a financial goal to assist the Blums with medical expenses, bills, etc. as Becca and Cal will both be out of work for the foreseeable future.
