In Honor of our Friend Brian Mahardy
Donation protected
Brian brought adventure and joy to so many of us across the cherished communities in his life.
From his family and community in Upstate, NY to the family and life he created in Florida and the home he found at the Clearwater Marine Aquarium -- we all want to honor him, the life experiences he gifted us, and the energy he shared.
As a childhood friend of Brian's and someone so grateful to have been included in his life over the past couple of decades, getting to see the connections and impression he made across these circles, I am posting this to connect these parts of his life and the people around the country forever impacted by his presence.
This fund will go first toward supporting his dear Mom, Patty Mahardy with expenses and arrangements that she is in the process of handling. The remainder will be used to directly support the causes he held close. Updates on any donations or initiatives supported by these funds will be shared back to everyone who contributes.
Remembering Brian:
This loss was sudden, unexpected, and devasting; his family will need some time for memorial planning.
Please do share (either here or on Facebook ) the ways that you are honoring Brian, or ideas you have so our communities can stay connected and further his legacy.
Brian gave so many people the experiences of their lifetime -- in the snow, underwater, and out at sea. He made time for people, was gentle and patient and kind. His sense of duty and advocacy was unparalleled and he lived to serve -- as a volunteer firefighter, an EMT, instructor, coach, the list goes on with the ways he sought to help and simply to bring happiness.
He taught us so much and led by example to embrace our passions, have no fear, and support one another.
Please continue sharing your memories and tributes.
To know B. Mahardy the One Man Party was to love him -- at least most of the time, when he wasn't driving us a little crazy :)
