In Honor of Dr. Gwen Hale

Dr. Gwen Hale poured her heart and soul into helping others, and her efforts regarding the Eagle Resource Closet is just one example of her unfailingly altruistic spirit. Even as cancer ravaged her body, Gwen put every ounce of her spare energy into helping anyone she could. The Eagle Resource project aims to ensure that no member of the UMW community goes without basic needs such as food and clothing. Any donations will go toward keeping the ERC stocked for all who need it. One of Gwen’s last messages to us, as communicated through the university, is as follows: “Please know that UMW was the first job I ever had that felt like home. Thank you all for allowing me to contribute to the university. The Writing Center and the students were the best parts of my working life. Please take care and be good to one another.”
