In Honor of Jose Luis Jimenez

Hello, everyone. I'm Genesis Jimenez, daughter of Jose Luis Jimenez.

My dad was 54 years old when he died Friday, December 23, 2022. Just days away from Noche Buena and Christmas. He was found outside a Tom Thumb that evening and within an hour died of an aortic aneurysm before he could be transferred to a bigger hospital. His death was very sudden and unexpected. It's honestly still very surreal that he's gone and even stranger that I'm writing this in hopes that some of you may donate. We're raising money so that we can pay for his funeral and to take his ashes to his mother in Torreón, Mexico so that she can see him for the last time. He was a very loving and generous father to my sister and me. I'm deeply saddened that in his last moments he was alone.

My dad was a quiet yet funny and silly man. He led a hard life but was full of so much love and kindness for others. Always willing to lend a hand and give the little he had to those in need. He wanted to one day live in an RV and travel the country. I hope that wherever he is now, he's happy and free.

These past 3 days have been difficult for my family. I was lucky enough to be able to spend some time with his body before he was taken away. Throughout that time I had been at a loss for words and the only thing I could manage to tell him over and over was, "Sana, sana, colita de rana. Si no sanas hoy, sanarás mañana." In English, this translates to "Heal, heal, little tail of the frog. If you don't heal today, you'll heal tomorrow."
