In Honor of SSG Cliff Boutwell

We put this together for his family to help with the unexpected funeral and medical expenses. His wife and 10 year old son will be the beneficiaries.

Although this is an absolute tragic and life changing event I want to bring awareness to the fact that our men and women in the military need counseling for situations that have a high risk of causing PTSD. Having been deployed to Bosnia, Iraq, and other places multiple times weighed heavily on his soul. As we all cope differently... and as a nurse I can vouch for MANY medical personnel... we "relax" sometimes after work with a drink. It all starts there. Depending on the severity it can escalate to more. Cliff was an amazing husband, father, and friend and everyone loved him. However, the deep love and support from family and friends was not enough. Believe me, he tried to be "strong" and to "keep going" as he was so intensely taught. And don't get me wrong, He was successful for many years.
He was active duty in the Marine Corp and Army National Guard for 18+ yrs, then later joined the Army Reserves. He was a leader at every job he held. All the while he was behind the scenes numbing his pain. His family and many friends were by his side every minute. Know that he tried many different programs. Things progressively got worse and there wasn't anything we could do to help. Please know he was a hero. He was a soldier who would have died for his country. His pride and love for his family kept him going. He was a Christian and did not take his own life. That's what I am wanting to clarify. He just got sick and went past the point of no return. Please keep our family in your prayers. And all we are hoping is that more awareness will be brought to our veterans.
