In Honor of Yianni Athanasopoulos

It is with a heavy heart we write that on the early morning of Christmas day, we tragically and suddenly lost our beloved son, brother, cousin, nephew, grandson, and boyfriend, Yianni Athanasopoulos. He was taken from our lives entirely too soon, at the young age of 22. There is no justification for how unfair this loss has been.

 

There are no words that could do our Yianni justice. He was a beam of light, touching everyone’s lives around him and anyone he met. Anyone that knew Yianni could see how kind, sweet, caring, and thoughtful he was, never without a smile on his face. His work ethic was unmatched with a bright future ahead of him and a brand new job at the Capitol in Washington DC. We were so so proud and so excited for what was to come of his future, and cannot imagine a world without him.

 

Most importantly, Yianni left behind a loving mother and brother, only 5 months after losing his father, Billy.

 

We are absolutely devastated and shocked by this sudden loss. The majority of this pain weighs on his mom, Maria, and his little brother, Dean. While nothing can help their pain, we are asking for your support to ease some of their burden and show how much we love and care about them while they grieve the loss of Yianni, who was their entire world.
