In Honour of Patrick Muiruri

Patrick Muiruri was a beloved friend, father, husband, and conservationist. In the 13 years he dedicated to being an SWT Elephant Keeper, he raised dozens of orphaned elephants from infancy.

Patrick lived a meaningful life and chose to follow a very special calling. In the process, he touched countless lives, human and elephant. Patrick's teammates remember him as happy, hard-working, honest, and respectful.

On 19th July 2023, Patrick was killed in a tragic field incident. In the wake of this heartbreaking tragedy, we are raising funds to provide additional support to his wife, Salome, and his two daughters, Pauline and Braina. Any contribution will make a meaningful difference for the Muiruri family.

Currently, GoFundMe fundraisers cannot be created and linked with bank accounts in Kenya, so this fundraiser has been setup by Robert Brandford, Executive Director of the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust UK. All monies raised will be sent in full to the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust Kenya for the sole benefit of Patrick Muiruri's family.
