In legacy of Miguel: Support for his beloved wife

Donation protected
It is with deep sorrow that I share the passing of my beloved Uncle-in-law, Miguel Hojas Plaza, who left this world on September 27th, 2024, after suffering a sudden double stroke at the age of 55. Less than six months ago, he was diagnosed with stage 4 Cholangiocarcinoma (bile duct cancer), and though he fought bravely, the disease took its toll far too soon.

Miguel was a man of integrity, warmth, and immense kindness. Originally from Barcelona, Spain, Miguel immigrated to the US 10 years ago. The past 3 years he worked for the Russian River Brewing Company in Santa Rosa. We always knew that he felt like that was his 2nd home. Our family is incredibly close as everyone but myself, has immigrated here to the US. In fact, they have been residing in the same neighborhood for many years. He was not only a devoted husband, handyman Tio, the coworker who puts a smile on your face, but a true pillar of his community.

Miguel leaves behind his beloved wife, Lorena, the woman he adored with all his heart. Their love was one for the books—deep, unwavering, and beautiful to witness. They were soulmates in every sense of the word. Lorena, originally from Chile, was Miguel’s constant companion. Together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and selflessness. Now she faces this unbearable loss, while also caring for her elderly mother and dealing with the financial strain that comes with significant medical bills and everyday expenses.

Miguel was proud to be the primary provider for Lorena and those around him. We are humbly asking for help to ease the financial burden Lorena is left to shoulder alone while caring for her 98 year old mother. Any donations will go toward covering medical expenses, household bills, and helping Lorena get back on her feet as she navigates this heart-wrenching new chapter.

Your support will mean everything to our family during this difficult time. Miguel was a man who gave so much to others—any contribution you can make will help honor his legacy by supporting the woman he loved most. Thank you for keeping Lorena in your thoughts and for any help you can offer.

We love you Miguel y Lorena!
