We feel great sadness and sorrow to inform you of the tragic passing of Dagnachew Yilma. Dagnachew was a husband, a father, a son, a teacher, and a dear friend to many people who were lucky enough to know him. He was extremely passionate about teaching and, made it his mission to always encourage others to get educated and better themselves. He was a very kind, selfless, and thoughtful man who always led by example and believed in helping those in need. Throughout his life Dagnachew had done everything in his power to leave the world better than how he found it.
Dagnachew was one of the pioneers of the Ethiopian free press since its nascent emergence in 1991. He introduced desktop publishing to several free press newspapers and magazines. He was also a founding member and publisher of Zena Admas, which he managed and facilitated many veteran journalists. At a time when the free press lacked resources and technical backup, Dagnachew established Piazza Computer Center that provided desktop publishing, layout editing, and pre-publication services to more than a dozen newspapers and magazines.
He was also the founder and owner of Microlink Information Technology College, which has fostered and scaled computer science and software engineering education in Ethiopia. The establishment managed to produce thousands of skilled graduates. Including the current Ethiopian Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed, one of the prominent graduates of Microlink, who earned his bachelor's degree in computer engineering in 2009.
Thank you all in advance for this generous contribution to this GoFundme. There are no words that express our gratitude to you all. We truly appreciate the ongoing love and support we have been receiving. Though there is nothing more in this world that we would love than to have him here with us, knowing the positive impact he had caused in many individuals gives us comfort.
