In Loving Memory for Grandma Huang Fund

With a heavy heart, we are here to inform you that Guandma Huang Yik Oi (a.k.a. Huang Popo) has passed away today, 1/3/2020, at 4:45pm at Laguna Honda Hospital.
Nearly one year ago on 1/8/2019, at about 6am, Grandma Huang was brutally attacked when she was doing her routine exercises in the Visitacion Valley Playground across from her home. She suffered through the massive pain and had been clinging for her life courageously.
Grandma Huang’s passing falls on the dawn of an event that we have been planning for the one-year anniversary of the attack. We plan to hold the Healing through Compassion & Solidarity Silent Sit-In on 1/8/2020 from 7:30am - 10am, to remember the time of the incident, to shine light to the trauma, to heal our hearts, and to turn pain into purpose by building solidarity across the communities.
We are also saddened to report that the family will face a huge financial burden to bring forth the funeral. The family has gone through a year of unexpected emotional and financial hardship. We are asking the public to assist in the process of sending Grandma Huang off in grace and respect. The fund will also go towards the continuation of the peace and healing legacy work.
On behalf of the family, we are requesting two things:
1) You are invited to attend the following Healing through Compassion & Solidarity event on 1/8/2020. Press will be available after the event.
