In Loving Memory of Ariana Blackwood

It is with a heavy heart that I share with you some very sad news about a member of our community, 20-year-old Ari (Ariana) passed away this week. Sadly on the morning of her 20th birthday at around 3:30, Ariana was struck and killed in a hit and run accident in the eastbound lane on the Trans Canada Highway across from the visitor information centre in Canmore, AB.

 

Many of you will know the Blackwood family as they are longtime residents of Canmore. Ari and her two siblings, Lyra and Sofia were raised here. Her loving parents, Jodi and Mark along with Lyra and Sofia are now mourning the loss of their daughter and sister. Losing any family member is heartbreaking, losing a child is a pain that cannot be put into words.

 

We are hoping to raise enough funds for the Blackwood family to help cover funeral expenses, as well as living expenses for a little while so they can have the space to grieve as a family. The family needs to be able to be together without the added worry of bills and expenses. I know this has been a difficult year for everyone and any donation amount is very much appreciated.
