In Loving Memory of Alannah Bennett: Supporting Her Children

Hi, my name is Tegan, and along with other friends from the Mackay community, we are fundraising to support our friend Alannah Bennett's children.

It's heartbreaking to write this, but our dear friend unexpectedly passed away on 11 November, 2024, leaving behind her five beautiful children aged 7 to 17. She was just thirty-six years old. Her older sister, who is also a mother to a three-year-old daughter, has committed to raising Alannah’s children.

Alannah was a loving mother, a cherished friend, and an incredible person whose kindness touched everyone around her.

She was known for her big personality, her big boisterous laugh and her incredible determination to provide the best life she could for her children. She worked tirelessly to provide a home for her children, she worked hard to find a small plot of land to build a home, and went as far as being a part owner-builder to help build their home. She sustained a life altering back injury in the process, yet refused her injury stop her. Despite the grim prognosis, Alannah worked hard together with her support network to get back on her feet and keep moving forward. Alannah wanted to ensure her kids had a happy and secure life.

With her sudden passing, her children are facing immense challenges, both emotionally and financially. The funds we raise will go towards securing their future, including immediate living expenses, housing and food security, along with other essential items to ensure they have stability and care during this incredibly difficult time.

We will miss Alannah forever. Our hearts ache with this enormous loss, but together, we hope to help ease the burden on her family and show her children the same kindness she always gave so freely.

Alannah's five children, now need the support of our community more than ever. We hope to honour Alannah's legacy by giving her children the opportunities she dreamed for them. Any financial amount you can give will make a significant difference and provide hope for Alannah's children's future.
