In loving memory of Amarjit Singh Shokar
We have started this fundraising in loving memory of Amarjit Singh Shokar (Tony), who was an amazing husband, father, son, brother and uncle.
On Friday 15th October 2021, he tragically passed away after ending his own life due to his mental health, which he suffered with for many years. Amarjit was a very loving and kind soul who touched the hearts of everyone around him. He also registered as an organ donor and he was able to save other people’s lives as his organs have already been transplanted to those who needed them, this is just one of the many selfless acts that Amarjit did to show how much he cared about others.
Mental health is a taboo subject and it needs to be openly addressed. Mental health isn’t something that people see with the naked eye, anyone could be experiencing a mental health problem and no one would know. They range from common problems such as depression and anxiety, to rarer problems such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder.
We have decided that the funds will be donated to Mind NAMH (National Association of Mental Health) because this is a charity that helps so many people struggling with mental health each and every day. They provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem and this funding will help to improve the Mind charity services and raise more awareness and promote understanding.
