In Loving Memory of Arnold M. Alvarez (Buddy) – A True Family Man
Dear Friends, Family, and Community,
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved father, husband, and grandfather, Arnold Maurice Alvarez known to most as Buddy. Buddy was a lifetime Santa Ana resident. At the age of 84, after 20 + years, Arnold succumbed to the challenges of Alzheimer's and Dementia, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to his family.
Buddy was more than a devoted family man; he was a hardworking individual who tirelessly contributed to the University of California, Irvine (UCI) throughout his career. On weekends, he could be found at swap meets, working diligently to provide for his loving family. As a proud homeowner, Buddy cherished the value of hard work and the importance of a tight-knit family.
On Dec 30 1990 Buddy lost his only Son, Alex B Alvarez, who was in the U.S Navy, in the Iraq war. In the past 4 years Buddy has suffered the loss of his youngest daughter Frances, his wife Vera, grandsons; Alexander and Steven. He leaves behind his loving 2 daughters, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandkids, all of whom were the center of his world. Family gatherings were filled with joy, fueled by Buddy's love for Oldies but Goodies, Mexican Music, Vicente Fernandez, and Jose Alfredo Jimenez. He was the life of the party, a great cook, and possessed a sense of humor that brightened even the darkest days.
In honor of Buddy's memory, we are reaching out to our extended community for support. We aim to celebrate his life by alleviating the financial burden that comes with saying our final goodbyes and ensuring that Buddy receives the farewell he truly deserves.
