In Loving Memory of Averie Lauryn Richardson

Donation protected
Baby Averie Lauryn Richardson was born at 27 weeks on Tuesday the 11th of August at 0652. Brittany struggled last week with preterm labor that the doctors and nurses were able to stop, but unfortunately her water broke early Tuesday morning around 0403. Brittany got to Richland and had placenta abruption, baby girl was breach so an emergency c-section was under way. Despite her 48 hours of constant fighting, she passed away in the afternoon of August 13th surrounded by her loving family and is no longer suffering. This was a difficult decision for Brittany and Jeffery as they watched her fight valiantly for her life to include back to back bleeds, brain and pulmonary, trouble oxygenating, blood transfusions and while the list goes on I'm simply trying to help you understanding little Averie sure put up a fight! Just as any of the Richardson's would,  at only 2.4 lbs and 14 inches long she was a strong, beautiful girl, a little warrior her dad says.

Jeffery and Brittany Richardson have given much of themselves to this community.  Jeffery, a former Marine, currently a Lieutenant in the Sumter County Sherriff's Department has years of honorable service. While Brittany, a former paramedic for Sumter County, currently practices as a registered nurse in the Emergency Department at Prisma Health Tuomey.  The two of them have served others for the majority of their adulthood and sacrificed much as each of these careers are not for the faint of heart. They are incredibly selfless individuals who have experienced a tragic loss of their own.

With that being said, this was a totally unexpected, horrifying experience for any mother, father and son. While the family has only asked for your prayers for strength and guidance in the days ahead, I simply ask for the community to help take a little financial relief off of this family. While in the days ahead Brittany and Jeffery will be planning visitation, a funeral and multiple other things that are a part of the process Brittany needs rest and Jeffery is home taking care of her and their son Asher. Hospital expenses alone can certainly take a toll on any family, so every little bit helps. They will have a proper burial for sweet Averie and will be using  Bullock Funeral home. Updates soon with date and time.

Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your prayers, kind words and contributions.
